“The mission of the Bob Cooke Skin Cancer Foundation, Inc. is to educate the broadest range of individuals about the risks of skin cancer
and strategies for prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment. The Foundation will develop and support educational initiatives that reach people of all ages, with special emphasis on children and young adults. The Foundation will also promote skin cancer awareness among nurses,
physicians, and allied health professionals. The Foundation will achieve these goals by developing and publishing validated written and electronic materials, sponsoring educational workshops, and exploring innovative approaches to education and dissemination of health information.
The foundation will seek to provide a solid scientific basis for communicating the most advanced information about all aspects of skin cancer. In its support of research, the Foundation will focus on supporting
those efforts that have the highest likelihood of translation from the laboratory to direct patient benefit.”
“Sherrill (Cooke) believes very strongly in what she is doing and is unyielding in her goal. She wants to help as many
people as possible.”
—Attorney Cynthia Riccio, Trek advisory council member, Easton, CT
“This Foundation means so much to me. At the age of 19 years old, I was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer. I went through multiple surgeries, and 4 weeks of intense chemo. I felt so alone during this time. Until I saw The Bob Cooke Memorial Foundation on a public access channel here in Connecticut. This Foundation has helped me get through hard times. I want Teenagers to see that this can happen to them. I want them to be aware that it can be fatal.”
—Lisa-Marie Criscuolo, Melanoma Survivor
